We will be running "open boat" squid charters out of Hyannis Marina during this years squid run. Check us out and book online at www.fishblueline.com.

Does anyone haver water temp info for Colliers area yet? I also heard reports of herring in some of the runs at the cape now which is encouraging since the in past years the quid were only a few weeks behind that, at least in RI area for starters.

There are dandelions in the shade in my back yard in Wareham .

Water temp is 43, hopefully after next week’s warm weather the water temp will rise.

this is my first year. Is 50 degrees the absolute minimum or do you think they could be in Newport tonight?

Buddy running charters this past Fri/Sat/Sun came up empty at Colliers, entrance to Hyannis harbor, etc. - thinking water still too cold but heard reports of getting a bucket or two down towards RI so should be any day now - fingers crossed.

Went to GI last night. The large squid are in and in good numbers. Bite is consistent until schools of small stripers scatter them. Also some mackerel mixed in.

Not one squid caught anywhere at GI between 5-9pm unlike yesterday. What a difference a day makes!

Went to Ft Adams on 5/13. Slow night. 9 squid for the first shore trip. Did Hyannis a week ago and got almost a full bucket. Water temps are slightly warmer at the Cape currently. My thinking, it is slow warming this year. Boat guys are reporting decent results, shore is still slow and very much hit or miss.

I'm struck by the just how low the water temps are. Weather hasn't really helped warm things up. Looking at the forecast heading right into June, the temps are not expected to see many warm days. The question becomes, will this simply be a delayed season. Last year I was squid fishing in July. Not great numbers be enough some nights to be worth the trip out. Add a couple fluke in the mix and not a bad outing. Buzzards Bay is warming up more than I'm seeing water temps in lower Narragansett. Cold fishing conditions for Mid-May.

IT seems like over a week ago a good squid run started! Then the weather cooled things off and so did the squid!
