Hi,
I have only just started fishing for squid on the NSW south coast. I can't believe that they are everywhere right now. Just yesterday we were drifting for flathead over sand/kelp/shallow reef when I dropped a squid jag down just to see. Something grabbed it and after a prolonged struggle, managed to rip the fresh yellowtail off the jag. I've caught calamari up to 35-40 cm in mantle length that haven't yet been able to take off with an impaled bait. I've used live baits and squid always steal them. Has anyone experienced having their bait stolen from a jag?
