CROATIA SQUIDDING
#1
#i am german...so dont be harsh about my English, ok...thanks <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':ink' />

Hi there!

am new to the forum here and i am wondering if there would be any interest about other countries' sqid fishing possibilities.

this year i am lucky enough to have quit my studies(bioinformatics...arg) and not starting new ones til october...so i have plenty of time.

as i am not living near the sea and (non-commercial <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':ink' /> ) squid fishing isnt practised in germany i am a noob.

but this june i try my luck in CROATIA using the usual jigs. i will be fishing near Split.

i am leaving sunday 15th. i'll let you know about my trip when i am back.

BTW in september i will try sqidding in Turk Republic.

May there be enough <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/blueboxbullet.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':ink' /> 's for everyone <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Wink' />

hi

ozelot

Dont be worried about you english here most of the people who look at or post on this site are probably from non english speaking backgrounds

I think everyone including myself would love to hear more from people like you overseas as this is an Australian site with most reports coming from melbourne. Love to hear more about where you fish your tecniques and sizes of the squid you catch and also how you cook them as many cultures have different ways of preparing them. Love to hear more

Good Luck,

I would be interested as to how you go. I spent last summer in the aegean and even though I didn't fish for squid I saw quite a few cuttlefish whilst diving.

Hi there!

well here is the report:

i was between makarska and baska voda in pisak...ok about 40 km south of split

i did not catch a single squid and only a handful of fish,

but this is more due to the cheap prizes for good food and drinks so...i think u get the clue <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':ink' />

my brother went diving and told me that he only saw a single squid so i can only recommend to avoid this area for sqidding!!

thx for the shown interest + cu,

ozelot

p.s.: lets see about turkey rep. in spt. / oct. <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':ink' />

Turkey as well! You will soon have squid fished every country in the world at this rate!

Not a squid anywhere is safe! <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':ink' /> <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/blueboxbullet.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':ink' /> <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/rolleyes.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':ink' /> <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Wink' /> <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

Regarding Squiding off the Croatian islands....I am very surprised that Ozelot did not catch any squid as we have done very well there in years past.

I live in NJ, but my family is from an Island near Zadar, Croatia.....about 1 1/2 hour car ride north of Split. I have been back there for about 15 summer trips and have gone squid fishing with my grandfather very often. We always catch at least 1 squid per person. However, over the years, the Italian fisheries have over fished the Croatian coast and the all the fish have become more and more scarce.

In any case, I'll be there for 2 weeks inearly August and I will let you guys know how we did.

As for the food preperation, we usually get home around midnight, grandma cleans the squid, slices it, lighlty breads it and cooks it in homemade olive oil. Served with homemad vino, it makes a delicious midnight snack! Big Grin

well i am not surprised that u regularly catch about 1 per person as i saw the differencies between north of split and split and south of split. there is no seaweed where i was but lots of north of split and near split.

good luck, mr. martinovic!!!! yeah, please tell about ur results!!!

regarding my trip to turkey: i will post a link to the new thread as soon as it exists in this thread.

i hope for better results that time as i have more time to spend on fishing as before <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
