Rapid Bay Jetty - SA
#21
For people still tracking this.

THE NEW JETTY IS OPEN!!!

My old man visited last week, and he said the end is already black with squid ink which is a good sign. Might make a trip down there in a couple of weeks for a fish.

If you google Friends of Rapid Bay Jetty there are some photos of the new jetty on there
SA - the land of the bigger fish. The fish on the east, measure the least, but if you head west, you'll be bringing in the best!!

Have many people caught squid there yet? I'm keen to go give it a look see, does anyone know the length of it? I saw a photo and it looks tiny compared to the old one, so disappointing. But if there are squid then all is ok!

There are squid there but apparently it isn't the greatest. I think the new jetty needs a bit of time to get some growth around it and settle in. The reports coming from the jetty have been pretty poor. Squid is probably the most adundant thing there apart from slimey mackarel.

And yes, the new jetty is tiny compared to the old one, I think it goes about half way to the T of the old one in length.

I was down at rapid bay a few weeks ago and no one was catching anything. The new jetty is short but i have heard they may extend it yet.

Was down at Rapid Bay around a month ago, caught 7 nice squid off the end. I think the jetty is big enough, it's just tiny compared to the old one! <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Rolleyes' />

G,day, went down to Rapid Bay on the weekend, picked up 19 squid between my wife and I. That was over about 6 hours of casting, overall not a bad days fishing but we certainly had to work for it.

Cheers

Hi all,

Went down to Rapid Bay early this morning to try and beat the heat, ended up with 14 squid and a visit from the Fisheries on our way out.

Obviously no problems there with bag limits. There were several schools that we could see at the end of the jetty but they didn't want to know. Must have been too hot for most, there was only a group of 4 on the jetty when we left.

All in all not a bad day, all cleaned and dinner is ready for tonight.

Cheers

There were a few others fishin on the jetty with most of the squid being caught in close to shore we were happen to be.... at the end didn't have much lucky with only 1or 2 being caught

The tiny jetty is suprisingly good - especially around the end and half way down - just fish where the ink stains are.

I have bagged out the last few times I have been there. I can imagine whats lurking around the old jetty. Its still standing!! How tempting it is to try to get onto it??
