Website going through some big changes
#1
Hi everyone,

There will be a lot of changes happening at squidfish the next few weeks so hopefully it all goes smoothly. I plan to move the site to a new hosting company who will offer me more storage space and allow the site to handle the increased traffic which we are now experiencing. We are now averaging 7000 visitors a month and about 1Gb of data transfers a month. I expect the website to be offline for a short period (not sure when exactly). I will let you know once the transition is complete. My main concern is getting the chat board transferred across without any hitches. It might be possible that one or two messages get lost if posted during the transition.

Hi Guys, The changes are starting now! Don't bother posting any more messages since they will most likely get lost.

I will let you know when it is all back to normal!

Cheers, Glen

Hi everyone,

I am still in the progress of setting up the new website. You will notice I had a problem with many of the images on the site being corrupted. I am trying to restore these at the moment.

You won't be able to post messages on the forums until everything is all setup.

Hi guys,

I have done all I can do tonight. You will notice all of the photos that members/guests have posted on the forum do not display correctly. I can restore these after speaking to my old web hosting company. Still waiting to hear from them.

I will now reopen the forum to all people to post messages. However, If you have any problems, please let me know!

Hi everyone,

I think I have fixed all of the corrupt images/photos posted on the forums. If you spot one I missed then let me know!

I had a problem setting up one of the archived forums so I have just deleted it for now until I figure out how to get it going again. I guess most people don't ever look at this anyway.

So the transition is almost complete!

Thanks for your patience.

Now we have a lot more server space and can support 3 times more traffic than has been the case so far. Now all we need is the extra 15,000 monthly users we can now accommodate! Tell your friends about squidfish!

I quite often look back at the archived forums, glen, so dont go deleting them too quick - i look at them to see what was being caught a certain locations. Like if i was going this weekend, i look for reports in the archived forums from oct/nov time..........so please, dont delete them!!

Anyway, good work with the updates. This place is looking better all the time.

Cheers!

Hey guys, I noticed the forums went really quiet the last day or so. If you are having any trouble posting messages please let me know by email or via the Feedback Form. Perhaps no one has caught any squid! <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/ohmy.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

On another note, If there are any new additions you would like to see to the website please let me know. I am starting to get more emails and feedback from overseas (non-AU) people which is great to see. I suspect it will take some time before they have the confidence to start actively using the forums.

Have a good weekend!

Hi everyone,

The old archive squidfish forum from January 2002 to February 2003 has been put back online.

Its amazing how long we have been talking about squid! Also amazing to see that many of the first people to use the site are still coming back!

I also plan to take the other archive forum (Archived Oct 2000 - May 2002) and move it from its current location at http://members2.boardhost.com/squidfish/ and move it to squidfish.net. This may take some time but at least we will have some security in case boardhost closes down. Also I imagine they don't appreciate me having files clogging up there servers.

Best Regards,
