#1
Hi everyone. Does anyone in SA know the GPS location of "The Claris". It is approximately 14km west of Glenelg.

The following website might be of interest but doesn't seem to mention the claris.

Best of luck,

FishSA rocks!!

No one on there will give the exact GPS plots, as its a decent ground, but try this:

WGS 84

South 34 59 301

East 128 34 190

Thats Freds Ground -Clarries is about another 2 k's out to the SW. Keep a look out for a group of boats. The wreck is actually in 2 pieces. Excellent fishing ground - snapper, whiting, trevalley to name a few.

Clarries is a long way out off glenelg, and should not be attempted in smaller boats.. Also, expect to see Great Whits in snapper season - another worry for smaller boats...Be careful with Easterly winds as it appears calm as you leave shore but by the time you are 16 kms offshore you can face a 1- 1.5 mtr head on wave and a two hour pounding trip home. This is also not far from the shipping route to outer harbour so be alert at night or in poor visability for Shipping vessels......

Hope you have some luck finding it!! Big Grin

SA - the land of the bigger fish. The fish on the east, measure the least, but if you head west, you'll be bringing in the best!!
