While squidding in Pittwater a couple of years ago I caught a "thing" on my 3.0 jig.
It was a cephalopod of some description, nearer to cuttlefish than to squid. It was approx 4 or 5cms long including the short tentacles, and was less than half the size of the jig it attacked. Colour is dark brown with slightly brighter splotches or bands and it DEFINATELY was not a baby version of the normal cuttlefish we catch all the time. The shape and colour just didnt fit. It was released, but now I wonder what was it? Please identify. Ink? someone? <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
