Guys n gals have you used this flat-backed jig where theres a long string of thin wire which are to be use to tie a piece of bait to the back of the jig? Im sure you have seen it or used it somewhere. it is more of a flat baitfish imitation than the prawn the name suggests. maybe itll work when other fail on weird days? <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/blueboxbullet.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':o' />

Have one, used to once - too annoying. The wire is to thin and falls away - its a good concept, but why wouldnt you just use a pin with a fish and cast and retreive that - another marketing gimmick i feel!!

Ahh i see. But did it actually work? Did it deliver when squid were in those annoying moods and dont take anything and just stare at it instead?

Nope - it didnt work better or worse that the jags we used that day............

It has since been demoted to my supplies tackle box - the big one in the shed which i only go to if im really low on tackle!!

Could you explain the best way to go about using this style of jig?



For example, should the fisherman attach a thin piece of fish to the top of the jig? What type of "bait" is best? Does the bait fall off easily? What is the best way to attach the bait?

I've never actually tried bait on the top of these. Although it would be simple enough to put a small strip of the local favorite bait on the top, and just put a rubber band over it to hold it on.



The wire on these isn't for bait, it's strictly for appearance, and it ads just a bit of reflection to simulate fish scales.



These jigs fish quite shallow and are slow sinkers. I personally like using small jerks and retrieve it slowly.
