Getting Seasick!
#1
Hello ppl,

just thought of something which happens to me and maybe some of you here as well! I enjoy fishing on a boat as much as possible but from time to time tend to get seasick when the waves are choppy and the boat rocks from side to side dramatically..

have tried taking seasickness pills before I go on my trips and that has helped to a certain extent but my question is what tricks or things do u guys use to prevent getting seasick? is it recommended to go out with or without a full stomach? have tried several occassions on a 100% empty stomach even without any drinks but still managed to get sick!

or does it differ from individual to individual? cause my dad and my flatmate can go out in the roughest weathers and come back in 1 piece, whereas I'll be green as spinach after a few hours, lol.

anyone care to share their experiences? cheers! <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':th' />

One cure for seasickness is actually catching fish. No bull, adrenalin and concentration kicks seasickness ass.

Worst thing to do is to look at the bottom of the boat - take sea sickness tablets an hour or so before you depart - so they have time to take affect. I have never had this problem, although i do feel a tad dodgy in real bad weather!!

Hopefully they pulled those Pan Pharmaceuticals sea sickness products out of the market already ...... the ones that make people hallucinate <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':th' /> <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Wink' /> <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/laugh.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':lol' />

That Pan Pharmaceuticals product was called Travacalm, my mate had a pack which he reckoned used to make him feel a bit odd after taking them.......

Apparently the pills were recalled because Pan had no quality control procedures in place. When they tested some packs, they found that there were tablets in the one package which contained between zero and 700% of the stated active ingredient (overdosing of which chemical can cause temporary psychosis and hallucinations).....not real good!

My tip for seasickness is to eat a big brekkie, and look out at the horizon as much as you can.

thanks for the suggestion guys, appreciate it. Yeh, was in 2 minds if I should go out in the boat with a good brekkie or wih maybe a few dry biscuits as I made the mistake of going out with a full stomach of mcdonald's breakfast and I don't know if it was the oil or the coffee, but got pretty damn sick!

shall stick to the seasickness pills and a dry breakfast for now. hehe

cheers. <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/xyxthumbs.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':th' />
