hi makoto,
welcome to the BBS, it would be great to hear more about eging around Oshima. if you have time, we would like to learn about your fishing techniques, favourite tackle etc. hopefully we can share ideas and learn from each other, regards, glen <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/xyxthumbs.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

Gee, your japanese is good glen....
Someone tell me - what is BBS Ive gathered that ika is squid, and egi is jigging....but what is the in this GW?? As glen said - will be interesting to hear some techniques so we can try them here and see if they work everywhere!!
SA - the land of the bigger fish. The fish on the east, measure the least, but if you head west, you'll be bringing in the best!!

bbs is actually english - "bulletin board service". it is quite common on japanese fishing websites. its sort of like a chat board.

Hi Glen, (and others)
Just joined up and first time to post. You have built up a great site with lots of info. <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/xyxthumbs.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':th' /> To answer your question "what is GW?" it means Golden Week which are holidays at the beginning of May, and depending on how they fall each year can make up about a week off for many Japanese. I'm living near Osaka, Japan. For your reference I have a non-commercial page here: http://tsuribaka.com/jp/fishing/index.html Haven't updated that for ages though. And I arrange fishing tours to New Zealand for recreational Japanese anglers. Got to rush out now but did take many pics last weekend of a big group of Japanese pulling in nets "Jibiki-ami" at a beach near us and they got a few squid too, and can put up a link to those in this forum later......
Hi Ian,
Welcome to the forums. I have seen your site previously. It seems to have been there for well over 5 years now? It would be be appreciated if you could help us to identify some other popular squid spots in japan. I have tried reading through fishing sites in japanese but its a bit hard going when I don't speak the language! I look forward to seeing the photos of the Jibiki-ami. I have done a fair bit of fly fishing in New Zealand for trout. Its a great spot. Cheers, Glen <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/xyxthumbs.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':beer' />

Glen, been here for around 15 years now. Don't count anymore though. <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':beer' />
Grew up in New Zealand. Should be able to give you and others some ideas and views of squid fishing at this end......and no doubt I'll learn along the way too. <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':beer' /> |
