Unlikely that anyone nearby reads this forum- but just in case. For the past 2-3 weeks in Sydney Harbour we have been catching buckets of squid. Using a green-red jig shaped like a prawn, with pink antennae, I am able to bring in about 20/hour between 9pm-12(midnight). Some ights are better than others of course. Last night for the hour and a half I was at it I brought in around 50!
Currently it is particularly spectacular as there appears to be bioluminescient plankton in the water, so you can see the squid moving when they attack your jig, and when you reel them in you get quite a show with a glow in the dark squid rising from the depths! Very spectacular!
If you are in the area, buckets of squid await you at the government wharf!
I am new to it all, although the asians seem to think I am awesome at it- so perhaps I am a natural. I am certainly tellin everyone about how hilarious and fun squid fishing is though!! Now if only I enjoyed eating them!!
