Hi all,
Thought id ask if any of you ever venture to portland to try for some squid. I go there often and usually mange about 5 squid every hour or two. Its not a bad spot.
Thanks <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/xyxthumbs.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':th' />

Hi guys,
I was in Portland for the first time on the weekend. On Friday night I fished the small pier to the left of the boat ramp. It is about 80 metres long I guess. Not to be mistaken for the huge pier that you can drive onto with the car. That one is further to the left.
OK so for the catch report...well I caught one very small squid! Hooray! lol
But I did speak to some locals who assured me I was in a very good spot for squid. Just near the second light on the pier. There was lots of bait fish around. Plus one seal! But only saw 2 squid and caught one of them.
Cheers, Glen

That's the pier I fish for them when Im in Portland Glen.
Even the first light at high tide.
Seems to be more productive casting to the East.
Slow dripping tuna oil down a rag into the water works a treat for burley.

Yep I've had a lot of luck just near the shelf. Was there last weekend and came across a whole swarm. 16 in total. not bad for an avo's work.Â

Where abouts on the Lee Breakwater is best for squid? I've tried around 3/4 of the way down casting to the left (the none boat ramp side) and didn't have much luck. Any help?
