I've seen all of the posts about using a generator or rigging batteries and a inverter for lights. Any reason a guy couldn't use a good ol' fashioned Coleman lantern and hang it over the side of the pier?
Any thoughts?

Not a kerosene lantern it runs on white gas. It makes a pretty bright light up on high. You would have to take it up and pump it up periodically, but I would think it would work.

More or less the same as a kero lantern because you have to pump them as well which is what I use, although not as bright as a LPG lantern it still gives off good light
Yes by all means Sailor it would do fine any sorce of light is good, go for it
