[quote name='davidbloop' post='13876' date='Mar 10 2009, 08:59 PM']Went down tonight with some new jigs I got off ebay. They were a bit large for my liking (ie. 4.0) but it was all I had so I thought I'd still give it a go. Fished from about 4.30pm - 7pm, then went back down at 8pm - 9pm. Didn't land a thing until it hit 9 oclock when I managed to nab one squid I saw hanging around near the surface.

I'm not sure if I was off or whether it was the jig itself or the size but I was pretty dissapointed. There were people either side of me catching them every few casts.

Anyway here's a picture of the jig, anyone got any jigs that are similar that can offer any opinions or advice as to where I was going wrong.

well. The squidding at Pt Noarlunga seems to have just stopped for me all of a sudden. Out of about 10 trips now I haven't landed a single squid or cuttle. Went down to second valley and got myself a squid within 5 minutes, where the hell have the Pt Noarlunga squid gone <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/sad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Sad' />

Ever since I bought my first yo zuri jig about 2 months ago I haven't landed a single squid. I've tried even switching back to my other jigs but I think this new jig mustve put a curse on me <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':th' />

I went down to port norlunga from blakes crossing the other day. After purchasing $200 worth of gear i got 1 squid..pretty happy with that. Was there between 5am and 8am. A couple of locals got 1-2 squid each.. I am going to Ardrossen and Moonta this weekend, so i will let you know how i go <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

wow 10 till 4.30 in the mornin at Porties caught nothin but hey I wasnt alone in catchin nothing, some kids gave me squid they caught cause they had to leave and reckoned they hooked it in 10 minutes.Had fun anyway tried out my 1st expensive jig a yamashitzu or whatever, bloody excellent to use felt great casting and retrieving.Well worth the money it made the others feel like im squidding with and old shoe. Also tried a kamakaze squid light it looked good but hey still no bites but had great fun.

shame with the no luck clubby, a few friends and i were down there a few days ago.. it was about 9pm at night and we managed 2.. they weren't that big but it was still alright... Brighton Jetty has been getting more action, but is porties water ever clear? when we went, it was all murky and not much seaweed around (for squid to hide)

also, what's that kamakaze squid light you're talking about? what does it do?

the kamakaze squid light is a double AA in a led light that flashes 3 colours on your line.check ebay 9 bucks for 2 delivered but make sure you tighten it tightly .It should gets results check youtude at kamakaze fishing-squid jigs for a demo

Hi noobtistic , i have used a glow stick attached to your main line just under your float many of times and had good results best of luck!

The Yamashita jig from the live series that glows after a uv torch kills bigtime and is highly recomended I got 5 squiddies one night and was only let down by a reel malfunction then the next night another 5 squids, spend the money on good jigs I reckon if the squid are out there they seem to like my jigs so lately squidding is bloody great fun.

Thanks for the suggestion clubby, i've had a few squid jags that glow after a uv torch but it's just i find i'll have to re-glow it after each cast and it just gets a tad annoying. I've seen a squid jag that lights up when it hits water.. then stops when it gets out.. battery operated, i have yet to buy and try.

Glad to be of help also a far quicker re charge seems to come from a expensive uv torch my mates snap lock at 150 bucks lights em up at two passes flat out and his 27$ black magic uv torch seems to take a little longer,a normal led takes a while though in comparision too long really especially on a cold jetty. That glow stick trick sounds real good advice from Daniel.
