WA Squid
#1
HI Has anyone been getting into any squid lately?? Hopefully this weekend's weather will improve my catch rates.

Does anyone here uses a specialised rod for squidding? Like rods specialised for breaming, for GT's and jigging.

What a beautiful day today? Spent the morning cruising around insearch of something to catch. Seem to be pretty quiet at most of the rock groynes around Freo. Ended up squiding instead and got 13 in just under 2hrs. Back home now having lunch. Might go back again later. Geez this squidding thing is getting addictive.

Went out last nite before dark for a quick flick. 50 cast....1 squid.....1 BIG squid. Took an amazing 1 full turn of the spool of line....lol Went home and weighed it at 920gm....was hoping for the 1kg mark...maybe the next one.

Went out today again but got blown out from my usual spots and had to resort to the river. First 2 casts, 2 squid...not bad so far. Next cast had a fair but more weight then half way in it got alot heavier then it lost the extra weight. Got this one in with a chunk taken out of its wing.

Next cast and I got the culprit... bigger than yesterday's....marginally but unfortunately I didnt mearsure or weighed him but I guessing its fatter but not longer, probably still under 1kg. The killer jig was the Yo-Zuri Aurie Q #2.5

One stop....6 squid before I decided to call my mate to join me...finished with over a dozen within 2hrs.
