I think glow in dark can help to attract more squids. I hear from someone that if you fish in a lighted pier then the glow in the dark is not necessary, but if you fish in complete darkness then it will help. I usually use jigs with glow in the dark eyes and tail tapes, and i recharge them with a torch after every cast. sometimes they work well, sometimes not so well - but worth giving it a try.

not my personal favourite, but blue is one of the top colours and it is available for every squid jig, so it should work ok <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':th' />

I like to try and "see" the view from the squid's point of view..ie:the colour of the light that is on the pier.

Looking up from down deep with an orange light like the one at mornington pier behind the jig tells me use a darkish jig,blue/green.

If I plan to fish further away from the light, then I do charge my glowing parts every 2nd cast.

Nathan, when you tried your glowing jigs with no success, but had luck with the blue jig what was the light background colour. My guess is you were directly under the light and they didn't see the jig at all.
