Hi guys



ive been a member for a while and posted back a yr or so ago, ne who names andy im from brisbane Aus. Manily into fishing but my friend introd me to "eging" a couple yrs ago and it can be quite addictive.



my current set up consist of majorcraft raycal 79el and daiwa egee 2506 spooled with 6lb basshard(left overs from my breamming gear) i dont actaully have many jigs left (only 1 since snagging my small collection the othernight) but will be getting some more as my firend is back in hk now hahhaha.



ne ways i normally go eging around manly harbour (rock wall,william gunn jetty) and gold coast. ill be targeting them more this yr as i went on monday night at manly and there were a heap of squid around (just not taking my crappy jigs) and after loosing 90% of what i had i gave up for the night.

i have a quick question for you, i should be passing through hong kong in a couple of weeks time. Can you recommend any good fishing shops in hong kong? I would like to check and out the fishing gear. Particularly the squid fishing and fly fishing gear.

i havent been to any tackle shops in hk (last time i was there i wasnt as intrested in fishing/eging) but i do know there are a few there. prolly the most known one is Triton. They have several stores. Prices are reasonable even with the crappy exchange rates. A couple of my friends who are there now have reported that they cant find many high end gear due to the economic situation across the world. Although if you have the time they can order it in for you at reasonable prices. ive attached some pics from one of my friend's tackle shopping all that cost under $100au (that was taken about 2 weeks ago) and the other pic was a few days after also well under the $100 au mark.

I think the wan chai store is the largest my friend keeps telling me that its like wall to floor tackle and that its very hard go in and get only what you need hahhahaha. Triton will deff have eging gear as thats where all my raycal/egee came from. Just like most other asian countries haggle with them as you should be able to knock down the prices. eg. my sister bought my daiwa egee 2506 for me it was listed at about 900hk but she was able to talk it down to about 700hk.

Awesome! That was a great help. I am learning to bargain hard where I am in Cheng Du. I bought some fishing gear yesterday but it was all freshwater stuff. I got a 5 metre fishing pole (which is a zoomable one that you can set to 4, 4.5 or 5 metres long. I am hoping I can use it for garfish back home. And I bought some nifty floats that I have not seen back home. They are like sets of 5 little floats in a row. And as the fish pulls you see the row of floats slowly disappear under the water. I think they are pretty neat. Also I bought an extendible fishing net which has a nice folding mechanism so it packs up pretty small. All up I spent 400 rmb so that is about 80 bucks AUS. (current exchange rate is 5.1 which is not too bad). The starting price was around 600 rmb. Maybe they are cheaper in hong kong. If so I might buy another fishing pole! I still have to learn how to attach the line etc to the end. I will upload some photos in the China thread of the type of fishing pole i am talking about.
