Went to my fav squid haunt today with a mate and caught a dozen in varying sizes, mostly a bit small but one horse which was very nice tonight 'salt & pepper' style with some chips.
Normally I launch my dinghy in the marina at Busselton and clean my catch when I get home. Today I put launched on the beach a couple K's north of the ramp and when we got back we cleaned the squid on the beach.
What a revalation.
With a handful of sand those slippery little suckers are not so slippery any more. The skin just falls off without them jumping out of your hands. Turning them inside out is a snap. I only had to give them a final rinse under the tap when I got home to get the last of the sand off.
Never again will i clean squid without having some sand nearby.
Regards
Neil.
