I just saw this report.

Quote:Where they're biting - Hal Harvey and Phil Stanley April 30, 2007

...

Squid jigging was a winner around Fremantle and out from Woodman Point.

Squibly you can try the henderson cliffs, woodman point is still good, try sneaking in to that new coogee marina area (heard a few people saying they were getting some squid down there, not as many as somewhere like woodies but they were big ones in the arvo). Also people are still getting squid around south mole more so than north mole. Should be getting a few in the swan too.

I managed to get out to the causeway bridge to Garden Island, It was a Pretty calm day for the car topper. Although it was long time between the slippery buggers, all morning for 6 decent size squid 200-250 mm tubes.

Skittles I headed out on sunday just out from woodies about an hour before it started blowin it's ring out. Ended up doing 2 drifts before i was forced to go in because of the strong winds. Anyway ended up getting 8 but threw 2 small ones back. Were using tsuriken jigs purple and orange jigs.

Talked to a mate last week he said he was fishing from woodies shore based and he only managed 12 in about 3-4 hours. That being said I think 3 decent squid per person is plenty.

Thanks for the info Pete,

Ive just come back from work, I'll be going out on Tuesday morning to have another crack. I've been using green and pink jigs and I'll give the purple and orange jigs a try.

Pete a quick question, do you find Woodmans Point more prouctive or down towards Mangles Bay area over the weed banks ????

Skittles,

You talking boat or land based? I fish more around woodies because mangles is a bit far for me, in saying that land based i think mangles is a lot better place to squid. When i have gone down there i have always cleaned up as opposed to woodies which for some reason isn't as consistant. Are you also talking mangles around the garden island bridge/ rocko way?

Anyway got to shoot out, heading over to rotto for a snorkel and try and get a few squid then it's to the pub!

Cheers,

Pete,

Yes I scoot around in a 11' tinnie, find it very protected waters out along the causway to Garden Island as my young son comes out sometimes.

How did Rotto fair?? (Quokka Arms)
