Well I did go up to the cape, and we checked out a few spots including wynchmere harbor, chatam fish pier and various docks we could find.
I didn't see anything, from what I've read online it seems like you can actually see the squid in the water as you jig for them - is this true? In other words do you make a long cast out and jig just as for any other fish and hope for the best or are you wasting your time if you can't see any in the water right around the docks?
The water was very murky due to the recent nor'easter that hit but I could still see signs of life down there when I shined a flashlight off the docks. Lots of minnows and some worm type things so I assume its gotta be a matter of weeks before the fishing picks up.
Of course they could have been out there, but it was freezing and the water so discolored we just checked the spots out and headed home with the intent to hit them up again soon.
