That is correct. It is 4' long and float on its own. It comes with about 12' of cable with two larger alligator clips. The entire rig is stored in a fly rod-like looking tube when not in use. It seems VERY well built and rugged. I bought it at the Canyon Runner seminar last year. It was positioned as a swordfishing attractant but I thought it would be good for squid as well. Swordfishing is too far offshore for my vessel, but them squiddies are all MINE!!
