You can definately eat red mullet, I am not a big fan of them though - they smell extremely fishy when cooking, but don't taste quite as fishy as they smell. They are prized by Greeks who use them in soups - I think AK told me that Greeks call them the 'mother in law fish' because if you want to impress your mother in law you should give her a red mullet! I caught 6 on soft plastics yesterday while fishing for snapper off Rickett's point - I reckon they are easily the prettiest fish you can catch in southern waters. <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':th' />
