No, arrow squid are not generally better in my opinion, they don't taste as good as calamari, but they do fight better, and I think they are EASIER to catch. I have caught them on baits intended for other fish, and on jigs being trolled at fast speeds behind the boat while changing fishing spots (I was amazed). Every time I have encountered them arrow squid seem 'ravenous', they hit the baits hard and fast, not like calamari squid which, at times, can prove very frustrating to catch, refusing baits etc. Other people may have different experiences though.
