You might get red morwong in far eastern victoria, but not around PPB. The closest I have seen them to Victoria is in Jervis Bay, southern NSW. I have seen and speared quite a few banded mowies to 3kg along the west coast of Vic.
And AK...awesome bag of fish mate, but I reckon those fish are jackass morwong, not banded morwong. True banded mowies have many stripes all along the body. There is a fairly large live export market of banded mowies to Japan.
