HELLO

I have just moved to tassy and got myself a boat, i was given a squid jig and float as a gift and after reading some of the other messages now understand how to use it, thankyou. At what depth do squid normally hang out, ie shallow 10m or less or say 20m whats the go. After setting the float to hold the jig 1m from the bottom whilst anchored above a productive patch , do i just give it a pull every now and then or just leave it till something happens then start jigging. Any info relating to the Tamar river or N.E Tassy would be good .

thanks martin.

hey i fish the Tamar rgularly and find squid in the warmer months closer to low head. (Mouth if the River) I chase mainly snapper and snotty trevally near the Batman bridge. I must admit i haven't had a lot of luck with the snapper but a lot with the snottys. Great fighting fish on light gear and great eating too. I have found that using berley near the batman brings a lot of cod in and this can be a pain in the butt. (I hate cod) Keep an eye on the rain fall during winter as fresh pushes the fish further to to the mouth of the river eg Beauty point and Georgetown. If you have a boat and are keen to travel hit Bridport during dec to feb and you can get a pretty good feed of squid and lots more. Late nov. early dec is really good for some major king flatties when they come in to sporn but remember only take a feed and the smaller ones are better eating.. Happy Fishing KILLER !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
