hi jazman,
The light does attract the squid, just like pier lights do, but because my dad is usually rowing and we are moving along at a slow walking pace i dont think they have much of a chance to "swarm" towards the light. Next time when we see some squid i may just stop moving and see what happens.
The garfish are attracted to the light however <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':ink' /> you see fluorescent green gars darting around in the periphery of the light, awesome to see <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':ink' /> Sometimes they pause for a while and that when you have to either spear them or scoop them up in a landing net.
