Sounds like you put in a lot of work without a lot of success.
My personal recommendation for one is to use a weighted squid jig on the bottom, we have some that are 1oz and ideal for a bottom jig. Have had other customers do very well this way, and actually caught over half of their squid on the weighted jig.
I'm not sure which yo-zuri jigs you were using, but I definitely recommend using luminous glow in the dark jigs. You do need to remember to charge up the glow in the dark jigs with an electric light though, which will add to your success. Size 1.5 - 2.5 are good sizes.
