Howdy folks, I'm a new member, just wondering if anyone got a jig wet on the weekend. I got out in my rowboat (that's right, rowboat) off Edithvale (Port Phillip Bay, VIC), and managed 3 calamari + 2 arrow squid on Saturday, and 4 calamari on Sunday. I've noticed that the last month or so the arrow squid have reached plague proportions where I fish, and I generally catch more of them than calamari! <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mad.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':ink' />
I usually just drift fish for the squid, with my trusty pair of green Yamashita 2.0 jigs (this is the best jig I have ever used). Does anyone else do much boat fishing for squid in the Mordialloc-Frankston area? I usually find good numbers (4+ per trip) of squid, especially this time of year, but not so huge. Also, I used to fish Mordialloc Pier a lot for squid, the first light on the right hand side (near the mouth of the creek) was always most reliable........
