I didn't eat the tentacles raw, only the body. It's cut about 5mm thick, maybe a little less using a sashimi knife and is about 4cm in length.
Tentacles were saved for another dish.

You can try the bridge or the rocks at Bear island.
Through the week is best as it's fairly quiet. If you go Friday night or weekends, you will have to contend with a lot of people fishing on the bridge.
The first 2 were from the rocks to the west of the bridge, and the one on the 2nd pic was landed from up on the bridge.
The guy who introduced me to this type of fishing (stop lurking YellowSnapper), has caught heaps up there, including a rather large cuttlefish.
