Freezing only kills mature worms, as with any raw seafood there is always a risk of getting this parasite. Bacterial infections shouldn't be much of a problem as long as you clean and gut the squid properly.
Having said that I love sushi and have eaten my share of raw fish, prawns and squid. With squid there is usually little risk of parasites as they are not old enough - most risk comes from fish 10 years and older.
And yes, fresh squid, prawns and oysters are all much sweeter fresh.
