Tonight I went out in my yak in the open sound off Huntington searching for squid. I figured they would likely show outside before making an appearance deep inside the harbor.

Tried 2 drops. First one 1000' off beach in 15'. Nothing after one hour. Next drop was about 75' from a jetty in 9' on a dropoff to 15'. Got a tap after 10 min. 5 min. later got this little squirt (don't laugh, its a start!). Jig got zapped 2 more times a few min later. Only tried 2nd spot for 1/2 hr. then had to leave before my car got locked into the parking lot.Â
