Whoa, looks like you got the squid bug pretty bad. I actually just submitted a comprehensive article on off-the-dock squidding that I expect will be published in the Nov glossy issue of The Fisherman magazine. It will cover everything. If you don't buy the mag it can be viewed online for free. I've been fooling around with a diagram of my fave rig. I'll see if I can give a sneak peek at that. 

 

As for tides in Huntington, Low tide is too low there. I've done best near high tide. They also don't seem to bite at all during slack. The squids are very sporadic in their appearance. You've got to put in time. Never know when they will show up in numbers and suddenly you get double-headers for a crazy half-hour, then they're gone again.
