Hi, new member here. Â First, thanks for all the great information. Â I've learned a lot here.
Â
I have been living in Edgartown for almost two years, and my fiancee and I have had a lot of fun squidding off Memorial Wharf. Â Recently, she got a job in a kitchen a block away, and I pick her up after work. Â Usually between 1030 and midnight. Â That means I get a lot of opportunity to scout for squid. Â We thought we saw some action a few nights ago, threw some jigs, but didn't get anything. Â We are pretty new at this, and I think I mistook baitfish feeding on the surface for squid. Â They were moving fast.
Â
Well, tonight the main lights on the wharf were off at just after 10pm. Â Only the lights to the right as you walk from the lot to the wharf were on...leaving a small patch of lit water but mostly the few fishing boats there were lit up. Â
Â
That wasn't the first time. Â Recently, I've noticed the main lights off on several occasions. Â Also, it could be my poor memory, but I thought I remembered big shoe-box or larger sized single units there, and now the lights are smaller, like security lights for a home driveway? Â Again, it is probably just my memory being faulty, but it seemed to both of us when the lights were on that they were dimmer.
Â
So that is a long way of saying there is a problem with the lights at Memorial Wharf in Edgartown. Â I don't know if it is accidental or intentional. Â
Â
I did see some people Saturday night with buckets who looked like they were bringing in something. Â I didn't have time to park and check it out, but rumor has it the squid are in. Â The question is, where are the lights?
