Welcome aboard nicbaz,

Tips: there are lots of them on the site.

Best way to find some is check out the location you are interested in an scan through the posts. Keep and eye out for Colossal_squid's tips, he has some beautys, especially about Queens Cliff. There is a lot of other good info here if you take a lazy hour or two to read through.

Squid fishing can be as simple or a technical as you want it to be. In my experience it is pretty simple, a few basic techniques and understanding of where they like to hang out and tide times and you will do ok. You don't need to spend much on tackle, but expensive jigs will last longer (generally). Whether or not they out fish cheap ones is another matter, I wont open that can of worms <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Wink' /> I have had awesome sessions on cheap jigs from Kmart and also great sessions on some of the more expensive ones.

Good luck and post a report from time to time.

Cheers,

nala
