All very good points.
Personally, I have a new born and have not gotten out as much as I would have liked - for now.
In addition to the points you made, I have found that with the closing of the GI bridge, the pressure on other spots has increased dramatically. With that extra pressure has highlighted people's lack of respect, manners or consideration - both for their fellow angler and the spots themselves.
I actually like the crowds. It helps me get to mix with people I never would have fished side by side with ever. Some of my most memorable nights squidding have been nixt to someone who I couldn't understand and they couldn't understand me. We had a ball together. We laughed at each others tangles and ohhhh and ahhhh'ed at each others catches. We have compared rigging and traded jigs. Hell, I even sold one of my carts to an older woman because her back was hurting - or so she told me. <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
I hate trash. There is no ned for it. Pick up after yourself. I do that and try to do more.
respect a little distance between people. Don't over cast them.
It is getting to the point where I feel like I have to put up a little perimeter around me with buckets and gas cans just to have a little room. Even then, people take my spot after I turn away for a moment - and I do mean a moment. I used to be intimidated by this sort of behavior. To be candid, I am the minority in this game and somehow that affected how I acted and stood up for my fishing.
Now, I just look at the person, as them if they mind - with a little authority, and have never had anyone challenge me. I think this is because they know, they have overstepped their bounds by taking my spot. The people who fish right next to me, and ask if they can borrow some of my light, they are the ones I have the best time with that night. They are the ones that this forum was mean to help and get help from.
I honestly don't have any solutions, but agree that if the grounds don't get cleaned up, they will eventually be shut down. That would be a shame - simply because it is so preventable.
I am bringing a garbage back with me tonight.
