thanks for sharing your thoughts. it is pretty common for the large majority of forum members to not say very much (or anything). that holds true for lots of forums...not just fishing ones. that is not something that particularly concerns me. that is just how things work.
there can be many reasons why people don't contribute:
1) computer skills are lacking - they don't know how to [url="http://www.squidfish.net/forums/index.php?act=Reg&CODE=00"]create an account[/url] (though we have instructions [url="http://www.squidfish.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=1641"]here[/url])
2) scared to [url="http://www.squidfish.net/forums/index.php?act=Reg&CODE=00"]create an account[/url] for a myriad of reasons (e.g. what if get spam etc??)
3) they don't think they have anything worth saying (actually they probably do!)
4) they are shy and/or like to stay out of the lime light
5) and as you have indicated...some are a bit selfish and don't want to share the knowledge they have. that's life!
if anyone reading this falls within categories 1-4 please note that we would love to hear from you.

if you go squid fishing please let us know if you caught anything. even a zero catch report is useful as it will save people time in going to bad spots.
