Hi guys,
Excellent night last night, time to get out there. Showed up around 11PM, fished till 5am with a non-stop bite on predominantly very small squid. They were very light bites, not really slamming the jigs much.
There were a few guys harassing the shore anlgers in boats last bight, coming in very close...uncalled for as there are tons of spots to go set up on anchor away from the spots where shore guys fish. Also, nobody should be fishing inside the private marinas or at the state commercial pier, the police were kicking people out and ticketing last night. We all need to show a little courtesy.....
As for the mystery about catch rates, I have seen guys stand shoulder to shoulder and one guy will outcatch the other 20 to 1. This is a very challenging fishery when the squid are picky and not very thick. Anyone can catch when they are really swarming in numbers and receptive to jigs, but it takes finesse and concentration to put together a catch on a spotty bite.
