I don't know what the access to fishing areas around there, but I'm guessing it's crowded on the lighted docks???? You could find and unlighted dock, and bring your own light??? That's usually what I do!!! I have a portable unit with a 12V marine battery, and an AC/DC power inverter. I have a high pressure sodium flood light 250 Watt that I use, works GREAT!!! The high pressure sodium lights are better because you get more light and uses less power than a halogen light. The 250 watt HPS light puts out about 6 X as much light as a 500 watt halogen, but only uses 250 watts worth of power. With my setup, I actually have two marine batteries and can get about 7 + hours out of it at full charge.
Setup like that, and you can get the squid to come to you, instead of you going to the squid... <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/xyxthumbs.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='

Best time that I have found generally though is right before and right after it gets dark, even better if it's an incoming tide and at slack tide.
