I haven't fished Wollongong - only the Sydney coast and bays/harbours.

You should be able to find some locations off the rocks that provide some shelter and have kelp beds, or maybe even some of the wharves that provide some lit up areas and kelp beds again.

Maybe some other forum members might be able to assist
