hey hhliu5 the best way to catch squid is at dusk to evening, you can catch them during the day but its best that u jig for them. use a prawn jig works wonders.
1.BUY the PRAWN JIG (LOL common sense there from any tackle shop.
2. if you're planning to fish during the day try to choose a calm day and choose areas with sandy bottoms and weeds
technique.
cast your line out with the prawn jig on and let it sink to the bottom. once there what you want to do is flick ur rod tip and very slowly wind in your line ( making sure that the jig is just above bottom) this makes the prawn look injured. squids LOVE this <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='
' />
they will attack your jig even if they don't want to. first they will follow the jig for a bit and then you will feel the tug, i don't think i need tell you what you need to do then. just make sure when u are winding in that u keep tension on the line or they might slip off.
i have caught god knows how many squid using this. i've had squid follow the jig to the pier where i just jigged on the spot to make them strike <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/cool.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='B)' />
anyways good luck with it and you should catch your 1st squid <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':ink' />
