Yes, the double uni knot is the only one I ever use to join brain to mono or fluorocarbon leader, and I have never had one fail me. And compared to some of the other braid-leader knots I've tried it is dead easy. <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':zorro:' /> I use at least 8 turns on the braid knot and 5-6 on the leader knot. I use all different lengths of leaders depending on what I'm doing, really short (40-50cm) for small surface lures in the estuaries, 1-2m for trolling and up to 5m for surf/rock fishing. Some people like to use at least 2m of leader so that when they've got most of the braid back onto the reel and they're about to try and land the fish, they will have a few turns of leader material onto the reel, so the knot is not directly under pressure during the tense last few moments of a fight.
