Hi Glen,
In greek squid jigs are called, KALAMARIERES.
The different types of squid are identical to our Cephalopods <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
I named them in a previous post, they look exactly like what our cuttlefish/squid/calamari look like:

ÎÎÎÎÎÎΡΠmeans calamari in greek (southern calamri) <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/xyxthumbs.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':au:' />
ΨÎΡÎÎÎ does mean fishing <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/xyxthumbs.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':wh' />
I could've mistaken you for a greek for a moment Glen! <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
The Cephalopods are widespread around the coastal areas of greece and you would catch them at similar types of areas as you would here, ie weedbeds, edges of reefs etc.
I have only fished there on 2 ocassions whilst on holidays but i never tried catching any squid.
Cheers
AK
