havent used one before but have played with one quite a bit, it depends on the squid your targeting - the yamashita noray feeling shaft is designed for aarow squid. if i were to use one i would not be putting any egis over 2.5 on the heaviest rod as they are too light. if your really keen on getting larger tigers or cuttlefish then deff get something heavier. ive never seen the gladiator rods before so cant comment on that but if you can afford deff get something from the japanese brands like majorcraft, graphiteleader, daiko, valley hill jdm shimano etc



might cost you a bit more to import one over but if your keen then its deff well worth it
