It shouldn't be a problem. I have a Daiwa rod rated 2.5-3.5. I find it a bit stiff for 2.0s though (only use them when desperate) Over here 3.5 is kind of the standard size and even in autumn a lot of people only go as low as 2.5.
I don't have a Major Craft eging rod but I do for ultralight rockfish. It's a good rod, not flash compared to others on the market but gives good bang for buck.
