[quote name='glen' post='7467' date='Oct 6 2006, 02:50 PM']well i must agree with you. i have NEVER seen anyone catch a squid off san remo pier ...though i know pat has had some luck at this spot (i.e. RX3-BOi). i have tried myself on a few occasions. i would have thought the current was too strong for them to hang around here. perhaps its only good at change of tide?
if any "real" people have caught squid at san remo or in cleeland bight recently please let us know.

Hey glen,
I realise this was an old post, but im new to this site and just saw it.
Not sure what you mean by real people, if you mean with photos unfortunately i dont have any, but there are definitely squid to be caught off san remo pier. Either first or second lights, middle of the night seems to be the best. My dad and I have caught some absolute monsters, unfortunately we always seem to "forget" the net and have lost some big ones.
But just to confirm there are definitely squid there.
Also, although they are caught during slack tide, we have caught them here when the current is reall strong. Only way to fish is on a patternoster style rig to get it down, then just jig it next to the pier and hope for the best.
Cheers, George
