Hey folks....first post but have been reading squidfish ever since I came to RI for grad school. Been a squid fisherman since!! Thusfar only have caught like 10 total in 3 days of visiting the bridge late night. What gives? What turns these guys on? Been seeing hundreds of squid around, schools and schools molesting the baitfish under my lantern....but bites few and far between. Water temp is 13.4 degrees C (56F) according to our instruments at the Narragansett Bay campus at URI. Thought that turning tides might get em biting...but so far no luck. Had a guy the other night tell me that folks are catching them in the middle of the day...moreso than at night. What's the scoop?
Thanks!
This site is awesome to keep up on the squid goings-on. Not like we can give away any secrets that'll make any MORE people go to Goat Island. Been there many times when it's wall to wall squidders!
yea they have been biting more during the day... today i was at gi bridge and saw them being reeld at 2 in the after noon..... and i saw a couple keeper stripers just cruising around in the corner near the basket ball court........ may be they are on to us lol
Thanks!
