if you can 1, definitively tell the difference between male and female and 2, when you do determine a female, detect that is is full of eggs or not....
then i would be all for self regulation and throwing them back... but other wise it's a crap shoot....
i don't thing the squid are too fragile. i think you could handle them and return them to the water without big time damage.
