Went to Mordialloc pier yesterday started to squid fish around 7pm till about 11pm. So my mate and I had about 4 hours there. Didnât catch or lose any squid. From what I could see the other 25 or so people there fishing had there rods rigged up for fishing medium sized fish and some for garfish.
Iâm pretty sure we were the only ones trying to catch squid. I had this ethic guy (maybe Greek or some sort of Arab) come up and asked me what I was fishing for. I told him; squid. He replied back âyour fishing at the wrong time, you need to fish in Marchâ. I said âBut I caught 4 last week at Portsea pierâ. He said âNo no portsea is different, thatâs there specialty down thereâ.
So yeah donât think Iâll ever go back to Mordialloc, too many people and it has a bad atmosphere; teenagers drunk and jumping off the pier. Iâll just stick to Portsea; itâs only an hrâs drive for me away.
