[quote name='MoHawkTshirt' post='13201' date='Nov 30 2008, 06:42 PM']I'm no expert, but...
1) Are the gear same as fishing gears?
For the most part, yes...actually simpler...Pole, line & reel, squid jigs & or baited jigs w/bait of choice, sinkers, bucket/container for squid, lights if fishing night (basics).
2) I live in Brooklyn Ny. Whats the nearest place I can try squid fishing?
Not sure about that. Youd have to ask the locals/baitshops. Im sure there should be some...look for piers/docks/bridges, especially with lights overhead.
3) What are the season for Squid?
They can be caught yr round (or so I've been told & heard, in our areas at least...I've personally only tried Mar, Apr, May, June, Oct & Nov). My most productive times have been in May. Here in RI, Most people start in Spring (mid-late spring can be really effective) ...some fish into Jun...some stop once it gets warm... Then in Oct/Nov there could be more runs...Fall squid are normally smaller than the spring/early summer ones (from what I've seen).
Also, any website that I should check out for more info on squid fishing?
Not sure of any others. Squidfish seems to be a great source. Like I said, I'm no expert. But feel free to pm me of any questions. Tight lines. <img src='http://www.squidfish.net/forums/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/xyxthumbs.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />
