Raw squid is tasty.
When in Japan, near my wife's hometown of Fukuoka, we went to a restaurant she liked for octopus. After a long taxi ride, it was closed. So taxi driver took us to another restaurant/ryokan.
Outside near the entrance was a closed tank, with squid swimming in it.
So of course for appetizer we had squid sashimi. The server warned us that sometimes it is so fresh, it still pulses from nerve impulses.
It was tasty.
As to the other 'interesting' sashimi how about ostrich sashimi? I did have some shark sashimi, it was pretty good too.
